Frequently Asked Question

Aspiring doctors who have cleared the MRCPsych Paper A can apply to sit the MRCPsych Paper B.

Application for the MRCPsych Part B is made through the Royal College website itself, from the candidate’s registered online account. 

  • Eligibility Verification
    Candidates applying for Paper B must fulfil the required eligibility criteria defined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Psychiatry training experience is recommended prior to attempting Paper B.
  • Submit Exam Application
    Applications must be completed during the official booking period through the RCPsych examination portal.
  • Select Examination Mode
    Candidates may choose available Pearson VUE centres or approved online examination options where applicable.
  • Make The Payment

The Royal College allows only a limited number of attempts per paper for each candidate. For the MRCPsych Part B this is a maximum of six attempts. 

Yes. Once a candidate has cleared Paper A, they have only six years to complete the entire certification, down to the MRCPsych CASC.

Yes. However, refunds are subject to RCPsych guidelines. Usually this means that for cancellations made post the application closing date will get no refunds. 

Yes. Although our courses cater to a vast swathe of audience, candidates can also take our MRCPsychsych training course in India as all our courses are also available online.

What is MRCPsych?

MRCPsych (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) is a globally recognised postgraduate qualification awarded by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK. It is designed for doctors pursuing specialist training and career advancement in psychiatry. The examination assesses a candidate’s understanding of psychiatric theory, clinical application, communication skills, and evidence-based mental healthcare practice.

Eligibility

Candidates must have successfully passed MRCPsych Paper A before applying for Paper B.

Exam Structure

MRCPsych Paper B assesses the clinical and critical review aspects of psychiatry relevant to modern psychiatric practice. The examination is conducted as a computer-based test consisting of 150 questions completed over 3 hours. Similar to Paper A, the exam contains approximately two-thirds MCQs and one-third EMI questions. The paper focuses on clinical psychiatry, evidence-based practice, critical appraisal, statistics, and advanced psychiatric management principles.
